Wat?
Fame farm is a farm team that consists of 7 people with a build + the skill to play with an 8th afk'er. I think it's only viable in the Tombs, but not sure.

umm, what? Are you talking about farming fame, like heroes ascent, Or paying to get fame? which is illegal according to the eula? I'm confused.

I'm pretty sure what you're thinking of is leeching. which is a violation of the eula.

Uh when you pay for fame you pay high ranked people who are willing to let you come along in some gimmicky meta build. r8-11s take some garbage guy along getting him fame. MATH has(or had) a free service up on guru that said they were willing to take newer players(or sucky people) along on there runs to help them get fame. That is an example of paying to get fame. Even though MATH offered the service free.
Fame farming and paying for fame are not the same thing
Fame farming is referring to. Say when you say I am fame farming. It means you are running some kind of gimmick team build that is just there for fast quick wins rather then holding halls. Examples: Sway Iway Hway SF Spike, EleBall, Monkball(Smiteway).

If you recall people selling Fame previously got a swift kick in the rear end for it, so be careful what you do.

Farming fame is the practice of running cheap degenerate builds to accumulate fame quickly with minimal effort or skill.

Since when is farm selling against the eula? Surely it is just like running people to places.

Just run randomways and gimics builds like RTL, SFWAY, IWAY, SWAY and you can get your deer + with little or no problems in less than 2 months playing a couple hours a day. Really it's not that hard. Just read a little of the tactics and backround on wiki and you should do fine. Don't act like a noob because that is when people treat you like one. NOT HARD

I assume you are talking about paying RL money for fame. Generally they don't go afk, they are just given a really simple role that is hard to mess up. Although apparently Anet bans people for providing this service.

Fame farming is this;
7 gimmick players take 1 low rank player to farm them fame.
1 low rank player gets given a SUPER easy bar to play, because they're usually bad.
7 gimmick players run their stupid build and grind the first few maps over and over.
They all get fame, you get fame, except you pay them.
It's a pretty dumb way of gaining fame, since if you were a similar rank as the guys who DO farm it, you'd know that they're usually shitters and bad at HA.

This is too true. Although there are a few "decent" players who offer these services.
The current price is 4k per fame, let say you want r3 and you have 0 fame, that will cost you 720k. Is it worth it? lol

I'm not understanding why everyone is talking about buying/selling fame when the question was about farming fame.

The thread that you linked to implies that you're paying that guy 3k for each point of fame you want. There's no AFK in HA, lol.
If you're looking to run it yourself, you're going to at least need to know how to play gimmick shit in HA. You're actually going to need at least 6-7 players that do, or expect to, er, not win anything. Since the whole point is paying for fame, if your team is not winning anything... well, you're not going to get any money. o_o

Please... if you don't know WTF you are talking about, please don't post in a thread about it just to boast your thread count. Ie, why did one guy start talking about leeching, another guy say "well you can only do it in tombs, but I'm not sure," and 2 people said its against the EULA when it isn't. I mean, asking questions is fine. But don't "answer" them with misinformation. "I think you can only farm fame in HA." Seriously?
A.net has never banned for Fame Farming. Although one person once made a thread on guru that he had, but Regina then told everybody on the forum that he was banned for violating a different rule (for the 8th time I might add, opps). It is a perfectly acceptable practice since you are paying in game goods for in game services, no different then buying a weapon or sweets for a title or paying for a run.

Anet has banned for Champ Point selling, but only due to the method used, which was organizing specific matches and resigning (aka match manipulation).
Traditional selling in the "give the buyer a super easy bar and let us carry him" has been used in TA/HA/GvG and is perfectly allowed. This also has to be what was being talked about.

there are 3 forms of fame farming I am aware of.
1. Play lame, get fame. Self explanatory.
2. Pay high end groups ( IE rank 9+ HA guilds ) to let you in their team and give you fame runs. This is usually done by the person paying for the run being given a very easy build to run that requires little to no experience such as spirit spamming or a 12345 bar, while the rest of the players do what they do best.
3. Pay high end HA guilds to train you to be a semi-decent player, then do the same thing as #2 but with a slightly less braindead bar.
As for the AFK method I have never seen it done and honestly don't see why anyone would waste their time gimping themselves to be 7/8 just to get some nub his fame. The gap between good HA teams and bad ones is not quite wide enough to guarantee wins with one man down. It's almost always #2 or #3 when money is involved.
